Piano with Karl

Lisa and Brian Flood, (4 years)"Karl was one of our son Luke's first piano teachers and ignited his love of music that continues to burn brightly. What impressed us most about Karl--in addition to his obvious talent--was his ability to adapt his lessons, music selection, and teaching style to our son's interests and personality. Luke always looked forward to Karl coming through the door with his trademark big smile and sincere enthusiasm that he passed on to Luke. Karl made it fun to learn difficult musical skills like site reading and covered a wide range of musical genres, from classical and blues toour son's favorite, musical theater. He also provided Luke with his first opportunities to perform before a live audience, but did so in a way that made Luke, and Karl's other students, feel very comfortable playing to a crowd."Over the four years Luke was fortunate enough to have Karl as a mentor, he cultivated a true passion for piano and music. Today, Luke is a sophomore in high school and an active member of his school's conservatory program. He's already played piano in three pit orchestras and has been hired as assistant music director of a young performer's musical this summer. He also plans to major in music in college."As parents, we always appreciated Karl's business-like approach to teaching piano. He always made good on his promises, charged fair rates, and showed up on time, ready to go. Karl was my son Matt’s piano teacher for 7 years, beginning when Matt was 5 years old. From the very beginning, Karl developed a relationship with Matt that encouraged Matt’s love of music. The lessons were fun, age-appropriate, and challenging. Karl has a wonderful way of connecting with his students as a friend, while also maintaining structure and momentum in the lessons. Matt always looked forward to his lessons with Karl, and was terribly disappointed when Karl left the area and he could no longer continue lessons with him. Matt is now almost 15 years old and a very accomplished musician. I credit Matt’s passion for music to his years studying with Karl.
